This page explains the limits of DiveBuddy Club’s responsibility when you use the service at
https://divebuddy.club. By creating an account, joining a dive, or otherwise using DiveBuddy Club,
you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.
Purpose of the service
DiveBuddy Club is a coordination and introduction tool. It helps divers share availability, find
potential dive buddies, organise planned dives, and participate in organisations and communities.
We aim to provide tools that enable more dives to happen, and we try to provide as much guidance as
possible—but the service does not operate dives, supervise diving, certify divers, or act as a dive
shop, boat operator, instructor, or guide.
Any dive that takes place after an introduction, invitation, match, community plan, or conversation
on DiveBuddy Club is arranged between the people involved. DiveBuddy Club takes no responsibility
for those dives, or for what happens before, during, or after them.
Assumption of risk
Scuba diving and related underwater activities involve inherent risks, including serious injury,
illness, disability, and death. Conditions can change quickly. Other divers may have different
experience, equipment, judgement, or fitness than you expect. By choosing to dive with anyone you
meet or coordinate with through DiveBuddy Club, you voluntarily assume those risks.
If you are not comfortable to dive, you should not do the dive. Always dive within your training,
limits, and confidence level. You are responsible for deciding whether a dive, site, buddy, plan,
and set of conditions are appropriate for you.
Your responsibilities before diving
Before entering the water, we strongly encourage every dive to start with a briefing and a clear
discussion about:
- dive objectives and the agreed plan
- previous experience at the site and in similar conditions
- certification level, recent dive experience, and comfort limits
- equipment, gas, emergency procedures, and abort criteria
- who will lead, how you will stay together, and how you will end the dive
You must only dive if you are suitably trained, certified (where required), medically fit, and
properly equipped for the dive you intend to do. DiveBuddy Club does not verify certifications,
medical fitness, insurance, or equipment readiness.
Information, forecasts, and guidance
DiveBuddy Club may show dive site information, area details, matching preferences, forecasts,
estimated conditions, calendar tools, and other guidance. That content is provided to help you
plan and coordinate. It is not a substitute for local knowledge, professional advice, your own
assessment on the day, or official notices and warnings.
Forecasts, visibility estimates, water temperature, site descriptions, and similar information
may be incomplete, outdated, approximate, or wrong. Conditions at a dive site can differ from
anything shown in the app. Always make your own decision based on what you observe and what you
and your buddies agree at the site.
Other users, organisations, and communities
DiveBuddy Club connects people. Profiles, messages, invitations, communities, organisations, and
dive plans are created by users or by clubs and shops using the platform. We do not control how
those people behave in person, how they dive, or whether they are truthful about their experience
or intentions.
Meeting or diving with someone you connected with online carries risk. Take sensible precautions,
meet in public where appropriate, dive with people you trust, and leave any situation that does
not feel safe. DiveBuddy Club is not responsible for the conduct of other users, organisation
admins, community organisers, dive shops, or anyone else you interact with through the service.
No professional relationship
Using DiveBuddy Club does not create an instructor–student, guide–client, agency, employment, or
partnership relationship between you and DiveBuddy Club, or between you and other users merely
because you matched, messaged, or joined the same planned dive on the platform.
If you book or buy services from a dive shop, club, or other third party you found through
DiveBuddy Club, that arrangement is solely between you and them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DiveBuddy Club and its operator, are not
liable for any loss, damage, injury, death, cost, or expense arising out of or related to:
- dives or underwater activities arranged after an introduction or invitation on the service
- decisions you or others make about whether, where, when, or with whom to dive
- the conduct, negligence, or omissions of other users or third parties
- reliance on site information, forecasts, matches, messages, or other content on the service
- unavailability, interruption, or errors in the service
Your agreement
You agree to use DiveBuddy Club responsibly, to dive only within your training and comfort, and
to take full responsibility for your own safety and decisions. You agree that DiveBuddy Club is
not responsible for dives that take place after introductions made through the service.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use DiveBuddy Club to arrange or join dives.
