Your preferences are used for matching. When you add your availability, you can select a preference set for the dive, but these prefereces form a baseline for the most broad options you would like to or be able to dive with.
Diver preference answers apply to diver accounts. Switch to a diver login to view and edit these answers, or use the API as a dive shop where appropriate.
